Growing Now – May Continued

Each week as we inch closer to summer, more blooms begin to appear in my garden.  Here in Zone 6a New England, I am anxiously waiting for these blooms to burst open and show off the bewitching beauty that has been hiding inside.  I did a little garden shopping this week and bought some plants to add to my rose garden and also my butterfly garden.  Since my rhododendron started blooming this week, the bumblebees in my yard have hit the jackpot! It is nice to see them all back buzzing around my garden. I also have been getting frequent visits from hummingbirds again! They love to come to my feeder that is attached to my kitchen window and rest their tiny bodies atop my bright red tomato cages! Here is what's growing in my garden this week.

In The Veggie Garden

At the beginning of spring I noticed some green leaves growing in my raised vegetable garden bed but had no idea what kind of plant they were from. I started referring to this unknown plant as the "mystery flower" Then just this week, it started blooming revealing itself to be a beautiful pink flower!

I love the iris ~ it reminds of the one in our yard, but with a bit more color.
