The Supermoon Eclipse

[dropcap]L[/dropcap]ast night, I grabbed my camera and took a few shots of the super "blood moon" lunar eclipse.  It was truly amazing to see the supermoon coinciding with the lunar eclipse.  Although I didn't see much of the reddish tint that comes along with the blood moon, I did get to watch the eclipse in full.  It looked more dark grey colored than rusty red from my point of view. Although it was a bit chilly outside, it was worth it to watch this fascinating process take place in the clear night sky.  This was my first opportunity to watch this lunar combination. The last time it occurred was in 1982, and I wasn't even born!  Any time an event like this occurs, I love how it gets everyone outside and helps us all slow down a little and enjoy the sights.  There is nothing like a night full of stargazing with family and friends.

You are so right, there is nothing like stargazing with family and friends! And sometimes looking up is all we need to realize or remember how small we are, and how the world around us and the universe are magical.

Wonderful 🙂 I was far to tired to stay up – but I saw the very last part early in the morning, walking the dog.

Great shots. We stood out in the drive way and watched. Even the teenager decided to leave her texting and come outside to

That’s a great sequence of moon shots. I caught glimpses of the eclipse, but we were busy with other things and I didn’t take even one photo.

We watched the eclipse from our backyard (Ontario) and it was red when we could see the moon. There were a lot of clouds obscuring our view at times. Magnificent, wasn’t it?

I am on the wrong side of the world to see this lunar eclipse, but I did catch the last one. However, the moon did come of the horizon magnificently last night, and I also grabbed a camera. Love your series. Thanks for sharing.
