The start of the year is the perfect time to begin a new project. With some new photography gear added to my arsenal, I've decided to participate in the 2016 photo a day challenge. Each day, I will be snapping and posting one photo to Instagram for the entire year. This year happens to be a leap year so, in total, that is 366 photos I will be taking! I've decided to do a biweekly review with you and share my photos on my blog every other week. I am following along with The Bethadilly Challenge photo prompts for some extra inspiration. Come take a look at my first two weeks in review!

My 366 So Far
Are you participating in the photo a day challenge? You don't have to begin on January 1st, you can join in any day of the year! If you want to be a part of The Bethadilly Challenge on Instagram, all you have to do is post a photo and use the hashtag #thebethadillychallenge. Make sure to follow the host Beth here and check out her website here for extra motivation and inspiration. I already find that participating has helped me think outside of the box more when it comes to my photography. The wonderful thing I love about this challenge is it's all totally your point of view. It's fun to see each person's perspective and to get that tiny glimpse into a their everyday life. Beauty is all around, and, this year, I'm hoping to capture some of it! Don't forget to follow along with me on Flickr and, of course, Instagram using the hashtag #thefreckledrose366.

January 27, 2016 at 9:21 pmWhat beautiful photos! And by the way, I love the way that you have put these together – such a beautiful layout! I’m not focused enough for a photo-a-day. I wish that I were. More often than not, it is 10 at night and I realize that I haven’t taken a photo. I have much more success with a 52 weeks project. Perhaps after I conquer a 52 weeks, I’ll be able to concentrate enough on a daily project.
thank you for sharing with us at Photo Friday!

January 24, 2016 at 4:16 pmWhat’s your secret to taking such detailed macro photos? I still can’t figure out how to dial in my new Canon DSLR without causing macro shots to become too dark or shadowed.

February 2, 2016 at 2:59 pmWhen it comes to macro photography, lighting makes all the difference. As much lighting as possible, and just when you think you have enough, add more lighting! Also if you can, invest in an external flash with a flashbender! I’m hoping to eventually purchase a ring light for my macro lens but they tend to be on the expensive side. Hope that helps & let me know if you have any other questions 🙂
