About Rose Of Sharon
Rose Of Sharon, also know as Hibiscus syriacus, is a flowering deciduous shrub or small tree. They are native to East Asia and can bring the look of the tropics to USDA zones 5-9. These sun loving plants can grow anywhere from 8 to 12 feet high and boast large showy blossoms. They come in a variety of colors from bright pink all the way to crisp white. An excellent shrub to add to your landscape especially if you are looking to attract birds, butterflies and an array of pollinators.
White Chiffon Rose Of Sharon
White Chiffon Rose Of Sharon boasts large, graceful flowers with a lacy looking center. It is adaptable to most well-drained soil and makes an excellent border shrub. They are easy to care for and also can be pruned into small trees. This variety blooms from late summer to late fall and looks stunning amongst dark foliaged plants. They are vigorous growers with a uniform habit and do not require heavy pruning. It is hardy down to -20°F and is a reliable, long lasting bloomer. These flowers will put on a show for years to come!
How To Grow
When selecting a location for your new plant choose a spot with full sun to part shade. Take your new plant and dig a hole 2-3 times winder than the pot. Make sure your hole is the same depth as your container. Then, remove the rootball from the pot and place into your newly dug hole. If you would like, you can add some fresh new garden soil or compost when filling it in. Give your new plant a healthy watering and apply 2-3 inches of mulch. Rose Of Sharon is an easy shrub to care for and very low maintenance. Give it an extra boost by fertilizing in spring and midsummer. You can also add a layer of compost each spring as well as new mulch. If your plant needs pruning, do this in late winter/early spring since flowers are produced on new wood. If you see dead or injured branches, these can be removed at any time. When you give these flowers just a little bit of care, they will reward you with exotic looking blooms year after year!

June 13, 2016 at 7:46 pmI’m in zone 4 and doubt I could get these to live here since everything I have planted has died. I am a master gardener at growing weeds, though. But, we are in the final stages of moving back to the south where I know they would thrive. The White Chiffon is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your giveaway with Thankful Thursdays.
