Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28

The 366 Photo Challenge 2016

I finally saw my first hummingbird moth in my garden!  I've read about them, and seen pictures of them online but never up close.  As it always turns out, my camera was nowhere near me the moment I noticed this fascinating creature gathering nectar from my liatris flowers.  Although I didn't get any pictures, I have the experience which is all that matters.  I have also seen butterflies and hummingbirds enjoying my selection of pollinator friendly plants this month.  Everything from the chickens on the farm to the tomatoes in the garden seem to be thriving in this hot summer heat.  Daylily season has come and gone, now I'm eagerly awaiting dahlia and sunflower season!  A sunflower already started blooming in my front garden!  Come take a look at the latest happenings below.

Day 198 | 366 {little}

They may not be babies anymore, but they're still little! 🐥

Day 199 | 366 {negative space}

Little beauties ripening under the sun. I really can't wait! 🍅

Day 200 | 366 {my favorite place}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

My favorite place will always be in the garden. Enjoying daylily season right now! I wait all year to see these beauties bloom💛

Day 201 | 366 {happiness}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Happiness is when your corn starts looking like this in the garden. 😌

Day 202 | 366 {free choice}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Really enjoying all the activity buzzing around my liatris 🐝

Day 203 | 366 {rule of thirds}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

One of the most helpful flowers you can plant in your veggie garden. Couldn't imagine a year without marigolds!

Day 204 | 366 {my guilty pleasure}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

I consider this my gardening guilty pleasure. I am in love with both morning glories and moonflowers. Some see morning glories as weeds in different parts of the US, but these vines are at the top of my list! They aren't perennials here in New England, so each year I plant tons of new seeds. I love to see these flowers cover my chicken wire fence. I've grown over 10 different varieties and can't pick a favorite. Moonflowers have been more of a challenge for me. They seem to do better in tropical climates and need a long warm season to bloom. By the time they get ready to take off here, it gets cold outside. It also seems to be a favorite of the groundhog that lives in my yard. He enjoys eating the tender baby plants. I don't enjoy this at all! If anyone grows moonflowers or morning glories and has any tips, feel free to share! ☀️🌙

Day 205 | 366 {special}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

It's truly special when your favorite flower begins to bloom in your garden. Here is the sunshine calla lily from Longfield Gardens ☀️

Day 206 | 366 {a daily task}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

My latest daily task has been picking garden beans. I feel like every time I'm positive I've gotten them all, there's a bunch hiding under those thick leaves!🍃

Day 207 | 366 {artistic}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Sunflowers always make me think of famous artwork by the likes of Vincent Van Gogh & Diego Rivera.💛 I tend to have a love/hate relationship with the squirrels and chipmunks in my yard. Can't take the credit for this flower though. Whoever planted this had chubby cheeks and a fuzzy tail. It was a drop and dash situation apparently 🌻🐿 Thanks you this time, tiny friend!

Day ‪208 | 366 {in between}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Freckles in between a nap and a swim. The ducks were thrilled to have playtime with the geese today! Phoebe is back to her playful self now that her eye injury is healing. She is enjoying searching for grubs and nibbling all the grass she can find! 🌾Finn is excited to take on the roll of fierce protector again and is back to being skeptical of water bottles and buckets.

Day 209 | 366 {what’s in my bag}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

These are my bag essentials. I never leave my house without cash, cards, keys & iPhone. I use my grandmother's leather Coach keychain that's probably older than me. Classics never go out of style. There's truly nothing better than turning a regular water bottle into an Arnold Palmer on the go. A little Chanel lip liner, lipstick & gloss can really help me quickly transition my look from day to night. To avoid dry hands from all the gardening I do, I always carry some gardeners ultra-moisturizing hand therapy. It's a game changer! I always carry my favorite perfume on me that has hints of jasmine & vanilla. 👝

Day 210 | 366 {simple}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

If you look closely, you will see a simply stunning bloom bursting with color. Here is Proven Winners bi-color Luscious Pinkberry Blend lantana!

Day 211 | 366 {loyal}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Finn is such a loyal farm goose. He takes his duty of protecting all the fowl pretty seriously! Don't mess with him, and if your going to, distract him with watermelon first.

Day 212 | 366 {summer}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

One of my favorite summer flowers growing in my garden. I wait patiently for these beauties to bloom all summer. Lily beetles be damned!

Day 213 | 366 {my style}

Project 366 Weeks 27 & 28 | angiethefreckledrose.com

My window box style is pretty in pink this August. I feel like all my pink flowers are doing so well this month! 💗

My 366 So Far

July Calendar

The corn is getting nice and tall in my vegetable garden.  I've been picking beans daily and enjoying the beauty of the vibrant marigolds scattered here and there.  The ducks and geese have been enjoying daily swims in the pond to keep cool.  Finn is continuing to be the best guard goose on the farm.  How are you keeping cool this summer?  Anything fun growing in your garden?  Let me know in the comment section below or tweet me @thefreckledrose.  Hope you are are enjoying these dog days of summer!

    Brilliant! I love photography projects, although I somehow always seem to forget to actually COMPLETE mine. I’ll take the photos and never edit them into a year’s worth of images. Geeeeesh. Maybe I should just do 366 of my kids….

    ANYWAY, your photos are so lovely. Bright. Composed. Love <3

    It’s too bad that you didn’t have your camera around for the hummingbird moth, but it’s so exciting that you saw one! Your garden looks absolutely amazing.
