I'm always ready to get outside and beautify my space as soon as spring rolls around. You can completely transform an outdoor space and add colorful touches just by using containers! Containers are the perfect solution for the money conscious or the small space gardener. They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and even textures. They allow you to get creative and use your imagination to design your very own welcoming space. Continue reading to learn how I added some colorful curb appeal with Monrovia plants!
Create With Color
I headed over to my local Lowe's and purchased some different varieties of vibrant Monrovia plants. I live in zone 6a New England, so right around this time of year, the garden centers get in all of these gorgeous plants. I get so excited when shopping. It can be hard to drag me away from the fantastic flowers in front of me. Monrovia has such a large selection of both perennials and annuals to choose from each year. The great part about creating a container garden is putting together your very own design. It's all up to you!
I like to mix and match, sticking to a color scheme while adding different textures to add visual interest. I am drawn to the thriller, filler, spiller method. I choose one or two tall plants for thriller, a couple plants that fill the pot that are medium sized, and plants with a trailing habit. The plants with a trailing habit will start out small when you purchase them. They will eventually start spilling over the edge, creating a bit of romance and elegance.
Sensational Selections
I picked out some vibrant varieties to liven up my outdoor space. I decided to add Blue Eyed Beauty African Daisy, Mega Revolution Gerbera Daisy, Dahlinova Hypnotica Dahlias, Darla Daiscia and Golden Variegated Sweet Flag to my containers. All of these plants can be purchased at Monrovia's online store. Once you order your plants, you can have them delivered to the garden center of your choice!
I'm always drawn to Monrovia's plants. Being an avid gardener, I really appreciate the high-quality plants they offer. They all look so healthy with big bountiful blooms and vibrant foliage. Perennials and shrubs hold up to the test of time and thrive year after year. I love how you can enter in your zip code here to help you find the perfect plant for your specific climate. Give it a try!
Monrovia provides everything a gardener needs to know about the variety of plant you choose right on the tag. You can also find out more details by visiting the website!

Containers With Curb Appeal
I received inspiration for my container project by visiting Monrovia's Grow Beautifully blog which is filled with great how-to's and tips. Here are the most important things when creating a container garden.
•Select different heights & colors when choosing containers to create visual interest.
•Fill your pots with quality soil specifically made for containers. Don't use just regular old soil from your garden.
It isn't filled with the proper nutrients to sustain healthy plants throughout the season.
•Make sure your plants receive the proper amount of light. Combine plants that need the same amount of light.
•Keep the thriller, spiller and filler method in mind when choosing plants.
•Make sure to remove faded blooms regularly to keep flowers blooming strong.
•It's very important to fertilize your plants regularly, especially in the hot summer months.
•Never be afraid to replace some plants as the season progresses. Some flowers can peter out over time, and that's perfectly normal. Just gently remove the plant, and add in some late season bloomers.
If you are looking to have a successful gardening season, sign up to receive Monrovia's newsletter. They will keep you up to date with what's in bloom and provide you with a wealth of information. Giving your home a quick makeover is so easy. Colorful details really make all the difference! Add some of Monrovia's premium plants, and you will instantly transform any space. Make your yard inviting and the perfect place to entertain guests this summer. It only takes less than an hour to create an eye-catching container garden. Have a colorful season and happy gardening!

I’ve only ever grown flowers in the ground or in pre-purchased hanging baskets…so it’s been fun to learn about flower container gardening! Thanks for the inspiration 🙂 I’m looking forward to putting my own planters together. Cheers, Mary Jane
