[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s the snow coats the ground here in New England, we are all in search of one thing. Spring! Between the blizzards hitting the Northeast and the widespread power outages, it's easy to start getting cabin fever. If you need a flower-filled retreat and a break from all of this snow, I have the perfect event to attend.
Starting today, The Boston Flower Show will help rid you of those winter blues! This fantastic five-day show will be running from March 14-18th at the Seaport World Trade Center. The show invites you to "Savor Spring!" which is this year's gardening theme while discovering new ideas for your garden. This year's show will be incorporating elements of the popular food gardening trend.
“As winter wanes, our designers and presenters will whet your appetite for the sumptuous joys of the spring season ahead,” said Carolyn Weston, Boston Flower & Garden Show Director.
WHAT TO EXPECT
During this year's show, expect glorious garden displays and lush landscape designs. As you explore the show, you will see eco-design concepts and innovative planting ideas by premier landscapers, nurseries and horticulturalist organizations. They will all be competing for prestigious honors awarded by credentialed judges.
If shopping for new gardening items is top on your list, this is the show for you! You will have 200 vendors to choose from that will be featuring garden tools, furnishings, landscape services, seeds, live plants and cut flowers!
I'm especially excited to stop by the Garden Design Magazine booth. This magazine features the best garden photography in the world! If you don't have a subscription yet, I highly recommend stopping by and checking it out.
Other favorites to look out for: Fish in the Garden, Halladay’s Harvest Barn (the most delicious tasting dips!), Hudson Valley Seed Co., Maine Garden Products & Wooden Expression Birdhouses
As you make your way through, makes sure to take notice of the elegant designs created by the region's top professional florists. Don't miss the Window Box Invitational and the Florists Invitational!
There will also be amateur competitions set to the "Savor Spring!" theme, amongst the region’s top amateur floral arrangers. This is coordinated by the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Horticultural Society.

I am beyond excited for this year's show. I'm so thrilled to visit with gardening friends while being surrounded by stunning flowers. I'm meeting up with my travel buddy and fellow New England garden blogger, Jen McGuinness of Frau Zinnie. If you see us, don't hesitate so say hello! I'll most likely be behind the lens of my camera, snapping away pictures of blooms.
If you want to read my full experience at a past flower show, click here. Have you attended any past shows? Tell me all about it in the comment section below. I hope you can attend this year! Attending the show is always such a privilege. As soon as you walk through those doors, you know you've found spring!
